By : Fernanda lustosa | Jun 10, 2020

Dubai is a reference in luxury and comfort. But this glamorous city is far beyond what you see on the surface, blending tradition and modernity. There is definitely a lot to see and a lot of things to do in Dubai, but in order to enjoy the best of it you should check out this list!

Burj Khalifa

It is the most famous attraction in Dubai. The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world (829.8 meters high) and the most elegant hotel too. Enjoy the panoramic view from above and the opportunity to take many pictures. Once down, admire the Dubai Fountain, also the largest in the world.

Jumeirah Mosque

This is an emblematic building and one of the most important in the city. It was totally built of white stone. Visitors should not miss the opportunity to visit this mosque, which is the only one that allows non-Muslims to enter and can host up to 1200 people.

Desert Safari

Dubai is surrounded by desert, so you should enjoy a safari with dinner at a Bedouin camp. Most tours last around 6h and include a rally through the sand dunes and visitors enjoy many activities at the camp, such as getting a henna tattoo, sand boarding and dressing in typical costumes. Dinner is served followed by a belly dance show.

Burj al Arab

The Burj al Arab is one of the architectural landmarks of Dubai. Opened in 1999, this hotel redefines luxury standards and is one of the three tallest buildings in the world. The lobby has pillars covered with 24-carat gold leaf and a fountain that combines water choreography with optical fibres. Even though it is only for guests, if you don't want to pay at least US$1600/ day accommodation, book a massage at the spa or make a reservation at one of the restaurants to enjoy the amazing view.

Dubai Creek

It is a canal that crosses the city and offers visitors a short trip to the past. Longer trips on larger boats are also available with elegant dinners.

Dubai Mall

Some of the things to do in Dubai that visitors like the most is visiting the Dubai Mall, that promises an unique experience beyond shopping. The most visited opened in 2008 and it is the largest mall in the world with more than 12 thousand stores and 14 thousand parking spaces. You can find all kinds of stores at the Dubai Mall, as well as a Gold Market.

Take the opportunity to visit the Dubai Aquarium, a gigantic aquarium that houses over 33,000 marine animals and 400 sharks. The Underwater Zoo adds 85 other species of animals, such as penguins.

Ski Dubai

Who would ever think that it is possible to ski in a place as Dubai? Well, it is, and that is why you should include it in the things to do in Dubai. Located inside the Mall of the Emirates, Ski Dubai is one of the largest indoor ski resorts in the world (5 rinks, over 22.000 square meters of skating area, and capacity for up to 1500 people). Temperatures inside vary between -1 degrees Celsius and -6 degrees Celsius (visitors can borrow a special outfit to stand the cold).

Dubai Marina

This pleasant district is in the new part of the city is located around an artificial canal. It is a residential

and luxury hotels area. Visitors can enjoy the view, boat trips to the Persian Gulf, and many cafes and

restaurants. Most offer pleasant terraces that are a welcoming invitation during hot summer nights.

For those who enjoy shopping, the Dubai Marina Mall is a great option. Even though much smaller than

other malls in the city, it offers over 150 shops.

Dubai Museum

It offers interactive sessions despite its small size. It is located in the Al Fahidi Fort, built in 1787 to protect the city from pirates. It is an opportunity to know more about the city's tradition and past.

The museum also offers a gallery with archaeological excavations that are more than 3 thousand years old.

Bastakiya

One of the oldest areas of the city, Bastakiya's narrow streets once were the location of the luxurious residences of Persian merchants who sold pearls and fabrics. In current days the neighbourhood is rich in art galleries, cafes, and shops.

Jumeirah Palm & Leisure time on Kite Beach

Another of Dubai's icons, this is the iconic 31 km square island in the shape of a palm tree. The project started in 2001 and was completed in 2008. Take an helicopter tour or parachute to enjoy the beautiful view from above!

Or, if you are looking for things to do in Dubai that actually involve relaxing time, just enjoy the Kite Beach, located on the island. It is amongst the favourite spots to relax because it offers a range of activities. Visitors can play volleyball, enjoy kite surfing and paddle boarding.
